Princess Chamthewi who rule Hariphunchai at that time brought the Black Stone Buddha image under a naga hood from Lawo (Lopburi) to be enshrined here where it was known as Phra Rod Luang or Phra Rod Lamphun.
The image was later used as a model for the well known votive tablets known as Phra Rod Mahawan
