Lucky Charms

Lisa gave me the idea for this shot. I had the hardest time trying to figure out what take for this week’s theme that wasn't alcohol. I’m a huge cereal fan, I love Smart Start and Honey Nut Cheerios but Sangeeta and I clash over the milk, I prefer fat free, she prefers 2%.

So this weekend my friends and I were entered into a blackjack tournament in Reno, Nevada. Reno’s an awful place… depressing and dismal. We knew this going in but the hotel actually comped us a nice hotel room and our tournament buy in so we figured, lose on purpose and go skiing! Kirk and I don’t gamble… ever… and somehow both of us beat everyone at our tables and advanced. We were a little stressed about winning the next few rounds because that would mean we wouldn’t get to hit the slopes the next day unless we just bailed (and risk losing our comped rooms) but thankfully both of us got crushed in the quarter finals. Skiing on Sunday was fantastic.

    So much bokeh!

This is for the group Macro Mondays. Every Monday a macro photograph is submitted for the week's challenge. This week's theme was "St. Patrick's Day".

I have a Gen X blog, and Lucky Charms has to be one of the Xers favorite all-time cereals. I'd love to use this photo in my masthead for the remainder of March. Is it for sale or for use through Creative Commons?

According to some of the staff who'll get their report from General Mills, the "Swirls" campaign for Lucky Charms & Trix breakfast cereals will most likely end around June 30, 2011, marking General Mills to make changes for the following breakfast cereals.

General Mills' Lucky Charms breakfast cereal will finally consist of frosted toasted oat cereal pieces in the same shapes with eight bigger brightly-coloured magical marshmallow charms - pink hearts, orange stars (which'll replace shooting stars), purple horsehoes, green cloverleafs (which'll replace leprechaun hats), blue moons, yellow-and-orange pot-of-golds (which'll replace hourglasses), tri-color rainbows and red balloons. General Mills' Trix breakfast cereal will also most likely consist of all six colorful fruity flavors of corn cereal puffs in pieces, which'll most likely end the "Swirls" campaign for both of those cereals around June 30, 2011.
