Summer Streets |
On 8/9/08, New York City created a 7-mile, car-free route from Central Park to the Brooklyn Bridge for bikers, skaters, pedestrians, bladers and everyone else not on four wheels to enjoy. My personal Summer Streets route started with a "feeder ride" at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument on Riverside Drive, took me across Central Park, down Park Avenue, through Grand Central Station, midtown, the Village and Chinatown, across the Brooklyn Bridge and back on the Manhattan Bridge, then up the West Side bike path through Riverside Park. Summer Streets will continue for the next two Saturdays. Read more at NRDC's Switchboard blog: tinyurl.com/6mt5v9
