Nom nom nom, this is suppilonvahvero
(Cantharellus tubaeformis). Abundant in the
late autumntime if the year has been right,
and we are free to go collect muchrooms in
the forests without a specific permission of
the landowner.
We used to have a border terrier that would
find them for us, she got all excited about
participating and helping us out.
When you go picking, especially late in
autumn when these are available, you need
some time to tune your optic shroomieinstruments to distinguish them among the dry leaves.
Then you might notice they're absolutely
everywhere, when only 5 minutes earlier you
didn't see any. There are some places
(which i will not reveal, of course ;) where
you'd find so much of these that picking
isn't fun anymore, it becomes labour.
Fry onion on a pan, in proper butter. Add
real cream, salt and cut shrooms. Serve with
boiled potatoes. Nothing else needed.
A creamy soup is great, but of course the
mushrooms are better not boiled for very
long, since they become slimy. Fantastic add
in a meatloaf too.
