One problem with pointing this out is that there is no consideration for the effects of your quest for aesthetics. While the sign very clearly advertises exactly what to expect in this store the end result of enforcing some sort of aesthetics in signage standard is the rise in the cost of doing business for small business owners. I opened a store on Market Street in my town, I'm a web designer myself and had some very pleasing signs designed. These however did not meet the standards of the local aesthetic nazis and it cost me thousands of unplanned dollars in design expenses to get signs that were approved. Signs are for communication, not for making your world a pretty little place to walk around in.
