She didn't get a big tip, though. ;)

Thanks!! I'm kind of proud of this one!

Thank you!! They're just very fun and I recommend them highly!

Stormies work up a heavy appetite. They just gotta be careful, though, since their uniforms don't have much give. ;)

    is that REAL food?!?!?!?

  8. Doctor Beef (53 months ago | reply)

LOL! Yes, that's real food. It's what I had for dinner. Thanks for your kind comments!

And thanks, all for the faves. :)

I only just realized TK-704's silverware is sideways. Wish I'd have noticed that so I could turn them towards the camera. Ah well. I'm not setting this up again. ;)

  9. Angelina :) (53 months ago | reply)

I think the wonky silverware makes it EVEN better.

Goodness gracious! That's mashed potato right? That's ALOT of mashed potato then. Where'd you get all those cute cutlery from, especially the mug?

  16. Greg Easton Photography [deleted] (53 months ago | reply)

Really impressive stuff. And funny as always.

  17. obihahn (53 months ago | reply)

What exactly is it they are eating...?

  18. Greg Easton Photography [deleted] (53 months ago | reply)

Brown goo and white goo. Standard Stormie food.

  19. Doctor Beef (53 months ago | reply)

Haw! Well, I'm glad I didn't fix it then! Well, I still wish I'd have fixed at least the fork. ;)

They've made great strides in lifelike skin at the robotics lab. ;)

    Thanks, really!! :)

Can you believe they asked for seconds?

They were HUNGRY! And it's a known fact - Stormtroopers LOVE mashed potatoes. The cutlery/plates were from a hobby store and the mug by itself cost as much as the pack of plates/cutlery from a dollhouse shop.

Thanks, Greg! Not a fancy setup, but I made it! You proud of me? ;)

Check out the tags - the meal is there! (They ate what I had for dinner.)

Thanks for all the comments and faves! I'm blown away by it - and we've made Explore! :)

Told ya it was possible to do on the cheap. I love the checkered floor.

  22. Doctor Beef (53 months ago | reply)

    Thanks!

It's paper - the tablecloth, the flooring and the wall in the background are all fancy printed papers. 8/$1 on sale! I bought all the tableware and drinks, but didn't have a table, so the table is actually a Long John Silvers box top. ;) *giggles*

  23. Greg Easton Photography [deleted] (53 months ago | reply)

Awesome. So it cost you practically nothing and yet it conveys 'restaurant' perfectly. That's the way to go. The only reason I'm spending real money building my new alley set is because it's SO big and I plan to use it a lot for Batman figures and the upcoming TMNT figs.

  24. Doctor Beef (53 months ago | reply)

Well, I'd definitely love to build a few reusable sets more on the lines of your brilliant alley, but it's nice to know I CAN make some temporary ones somewhat convincingly if I need to. Of course, this one was very simple, but it's encouraging.

  25. Greg Easton Photography [deleted] (53 months ago | reply)

Oh no, the alley you've seen is the "1.0" version and it's crap. The new one is going to be gigantic.

If you look at my latest "Caption this pic" you get the feel that they're in a room with a floor but it's just a piece of paper, some chairs and a table. For comedy you really don't have to recreate something accurately. You just have to build a soundstage-level set to the point where the viewer gets a sense of what you're going for.

You NAILED it with this image. The quick glance is 'hey they're in a restaurant'.

Oh hey! Congrats on making Explore!

Shoot, Version 1.0 is pretty awesome all by itself! I can't wait to see Version 1.1! ;)

And yah, I know what you mean. I was glad I was able to convey what I wanted without having to cut the papers down, or really wrangle the box to make it look like a table.

    Thanks! :)
