    Jacobina Rung and her husband, Christian Englert. They came to the U.S. from Alsace, where Jacobina was a Third Order Carmelite, buried in its brown robes. (For more: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secular_Order_of_Discalced_Carmelites). Both were hops farmers, and Christian had a tavern at 110th street on the East River side of Manhattan. Both were born in 1825. He died in 1886 while picking hops in Utica. She died in 1904. Their graves are here,. at Woodlawn Cemetary in the Bronx. In order for these shots to proceed chronologically, I am naming each by date, and sorting them that way. Many of the dates, or the years, are guesses. Corrections are welcome.

      I can see the family resemblance - interesting how the facial hair style is not far from what you wear today.
