This is the soon-to-be-old WOR 3-tower directional array, which produces this pattern, and has since 1967, when WOR moved its transmitter from the Carteret/Linden area. Jim Hawkins has a wonderful tour of this site, and a recollection, with pictures, of the old site. I'm writing this on September 19, 2006, the night before these towers are due to be knocked down. WOR will then move to a new transmitter in Rutherford, New Jersey, a short distance away. The new site will have a different pattern, day and night.
