The Unforgettable Nubra Valley

The Unforgettable Nubra Valley

"Adventure in the Land of the Ancient Gods"
LADAKH : Day 8
The other side of why Ladakh worth to visit is the scenic White Desert at an altitude, precisely in the Nubra Valley. But unfortunately the local security do not allow the tourists to walk freely around the desert except by camel ride for only a very short route.

A Morning with Kungzang in the Fertile Land of Nubra Valley

A Morning with Kungzang in the Fertile Land of Nubra Valley

"Adventure in the Land of the Ancient Gods"
LADAKH : Day 8
In covering of a human activity or People photography, I prefer to use wide lens so that the image looks dynamic, but certainly some angle will looks distortion from close range. However, it depends on how you define the distortion tolerance, although some types of distortion will look beautiful.
But you should avoid distorted angle on something alive, like people, animals, etc.
In this photo I was deliberately placed my position right to the lower in front of Mrs.Kungzang, and when she swung the shovel to the front side, so the role of distortion makes this shovel looks as a same dominant figure of the subject itself. Then I adopted "the rule of third" of landscape photography by placing the subject on the one-third of the frame, and it also gives a chance of the eyes to see the existing background.
About the Exposure, that time the sunlight came almost right up of us and there was very bright so i needed to improve the color contrast between the subject and the blue sky also the green color in the foreground. I used a polarizer filter and fill-in flash, so i could get the dramatic sky but still retain a bit of light that still looks natural on the subject.

In the Last Lavender Glimmer of Summer Day

"Adventure in the Land of the Ancient Gods"
LADAKH : Day 8
This is a portrait of a Ladakhi woman named Dolma who work everyday as a farmer in Nubra valley.
At the time she was harvesting the lavender that grew wild on her farm.
In certain seasons after the harvest period of mustard or barley they let their vacant lot overgrown by weeds before it plowed back for the next planting season. But most of the vacant land is overgrown by wild lavender that grows fast naturally.
