GM Script: Flickr Buddy Icon Reply

    Newer Older

Many of my friends have asked and learnt how to do the Buddy Icon replies (original concept by and many thanks to moriza), in the old semi-automated way. I finally tried to grease the monkey properly late last night very early this morning and managed to automate this process (^_^)

You need to be using Firefox with Greasemonkey extension installed. Then simply click onto the link to my script below and Greasemonkey with prompt you to install,
GM Script: Flickr Buddy Icon Reply

It adds an icon_reply link at each of the comments under your photo (highlighted above on the left hand side). When you click on the link, the buddy icon html code will be added into the Add your comment box, where you can show nicely who your replies are directed at (see the result highlighted above on the right hand side). Experiment with preview and you will get the hang of formatting your replies in no time. (Should work on photo and discussion thread pages)

Thought the risk is minimal, where you can just tell Greasemonkey to uninstall or disable the script if it doesn't work, I just like to put in the disclaimer that you run this script at your own risk! Always backup your system first ;) Also it might not be happy with other GM scripts that manuplate the same areas on Flickr? (tested on Mac OSX & WindowsXP using Firefox 1.5.0.7 and Greasemonkey 0.6.6.20061017.0)

this has been updated to v3.6 details can be found here

Hey, thanks for sharing this cool script.

I just wanted to mention that it also works with Flock browser. I am posting this from within my Flock browser right now. I don't know if anyone else uses that, but it integrates nicely with flickr and is Mozilla powered. Some of the firefox add-ons don't work with Flock, but greasemonkey does and so does this cool script.

      Thanks again :)

OOOH! I'm so sad . This worked beautifully yesterday and today when I logged on, the icon reply is no longer there. What did I do?

doc18 i just updated it to version 3, name reply works but icon reply doesn't work anymore. I tried moving the script up and down in manager, still no luck. Is there a link to an older version I can install? It used to work fine.
