How about a craft - make an earth out of hearts!
Similar to George Hart's slide-togethers (see here for hints on assembly). Except there's some folding involved
It might help to get familiar with the Pentagonal Hexecontahedron
Assembly...
* Download the pattern.
* Print it.
* Cut the parts out (don't cut the dotted lines)
* Fold along the dotted lines,
* Cut the solid lines,
* Slot together as shown here.No tape should be needed.
HintThe triple-locks at certain intersections such as at Germany were very difficult (but not impossible for those attempting it yourself), Consider cheating by cutting out notches instead of slots. You might see how it's done by extending an imaginary line from the slot in Ireland and cutting beyond the intersection of the slot in Germany.

I admit there's a certain irony to an Earth Day papercraft.
BTW here's the finished product

Never before has slacktivism required such effort. :)

Yeah - tying this to the earthday thing is a good way to give this spherical imagery project thing an audience.
