Arrival

The Queen Mary 2 arriving in Sydney for the first time, at dawn.

Taken from Cremorne Point. I had to get down there before 6am for this, and the point was crowded with people by the time I got there. I had to park several hundred metres away up the hill and walk down.

The ship actually came into the harbour from the left, and has just completed a 180-degree turn here before docking at Garden Island (left of shot).

Wow! It makes the Opera House look small!

Awesome! You've got quite a few icons in there: the ship, the harbour, the city, the opera house, the tower.

Stunning ~ This is a very very sophisticated and beautiful image!!!! - One for the 'Coffee-Table' categories. Did you preset this as the most desirable location? But even so, luck was with you as the helicopter positioned itself perfectly to add the crowning impact to your shot!!! -- What a streamline stretch - Centrepoint to Opera House -- QM2s gargantuan size appears to dwarf all it approaches. Cunard themselves will surely chase for this pic!!! - Mel

melcir.meri: No, it was pure luck where I was. I had no idea what path the ship would be taking through the harbour, so getting this lined up was simply good fortune.
