New SUMO start page for A/B test

New search box with less jargon, a clearer search button, and example searches below the text box to encourage people to use it.

Smaller and more relevant heading. See also some research on the use of heading sizes
Paragraph of small text, encouraging people to read rather than skim (according to research), including instructions about how to use the site, and pointing out the fact that we do offer personal help.
Single-column of popular support articles, making the list easier to scan according to research.
Easy to spot "See All" link above the fold, making it clear that what is seen on the start page is far from everything available on the site -- further encouraging people to keep searching for their solution.
Line of text at the end of the popular articles list, making it obvious that there are a lot more articles available.
Clear 1-2-3 instructions on how to get help. Rather than using jargon and terms like "Knowledge Base", we focus on the action.
Generic box that can be used to promote relevant things. In this case it's a "New to Firefox?" box, but the contents could change depending on where users are coming from.
The SUMO logo in the context of getting people involved in the SUMO community.
Step 1 (the current step) is highlighted. This should make it clearer for users that they shouldn't give up if they can't find the answer on the start page.

Excellent!

Will the "new to firefox" bit have dictionaries for locales that don't ship with one?

(Or if there's a geo-ip & locale mismatch? - Like an American Firefox from Germany...)

Hey James! Not sure if I understand your question, but the start page will be fully localizable, so any article links that are translated will be available in the local language instead of in English.

As for the New to Firefox bullets, we might switch from that to the traditional list of links we have today on support.mozilla.com (under New to Firefox). It gives us more flexibility, and the A/B test revealed that more people clicked on those links.

I read (on planet.moz) about some locales having dictionaries which can't be included in the download of that locale. It'd be good to have links to those dictinaries in the "New to Firefox" list, I think.

Also, sometimes German (for example) people download the en-us version of Firefox by accident, without knowing that there's a version available in their locale. Also, as new locales are added, people won't be automatically upgraded to those versions (right?). They would then have a en-us locale coming from a (german) different IP. A geo-IP vs. locale mismatch if you will.
