Lenin statue guarding the Transnistrian highest soviet

At least I think it is Lenin, but for all I know it could be Stalin too.

    In Tiraspol, Transnistria, Moldova.

      Good foto!

I have already watched a docu about Transdniestria (Transnistria) and it would be very interesting to go there, wouldn't it?

You are right, he is Lenin.

      Thanks!

It is indeed interesting, and not more insecure than the rest of eastern europe (probably more secure than a normal european city). If you want to go, go. You could find a host through hospitalityclub.org or www.couchsurfing.com.

In the early 90's was a war between Moldova and Republic of Transnistria
      Moldovan soldiers killed civilians.
Peace was restored thanks to Russia and its peacekeeping forces.

That's a pretty biased way of looking at it. The russians intervened because they'd like to keep the area within their sphere of interest, and it has kept Moldova down and the area in a state of uncertainty. The russians only had their own interests in mind, not really peace.
