Flowers growing beside the Pioneer Mother's Memorial Cabin at Champoeg State Park
![]() This reproduction of a pioneer cabin was built in 1931, using hand-hewn logs.
***** Champoeg State Park is located where the Provisional Government for the Oregon Territory was first established on May 2, 1843. In a very close vote Oregon opted to form an American-style government, deciding once and for all in favor of the US over Britain. Two French-Canadians went to the "other side" and voted with the Americans to defeat the British.
