Gravestone in St. George, West Virginia, 1973
This is the gravesite of David Minear (1756-1824) and his wife Eva, one of the founders of the town of St. George. He had a daughter named Elizabeth (Minear) who had a daughter named Sarah (Bonnifield) who had a daughter named Mary Angelina (Maxwell), who was my great-grandmother, so David Minear is my 4 times great grandfather. It was kind of weird to be standing there and know that my DNA was partially the same as (and derived from) he and his wife, who lay beneath me!!
Not that I am unique- there are thousands of descendants of him around the country. In fact, the TV producer and writer Tim Minear (Angel, Firefly, Serenity) is also descended from David Minear and we are sixth or seventh cousins, I forget.
Undoubtedly some flickr people are related to me, too, out there, somewhere!!!
This too was orginally a slide.
