By shooting at normal exposure levels, we take advantage of the full range of tones that the sensor is capable of recording, giving us much more tonal depth to work with. Also, because the sensor is optimized to be color balanced at normal exposures levels, skin tones look very natural.

You're right, this isn't the most stunning example of lighting technique in this set, however, it is a fair match to the purposely under-exposed version that I used in the lecture on digital photography that I gave at the SparkArts Festival last weekend.
