Charminar

Charminar

A 7AM photo-walk at Charminar and Mecca Masjid on a Saturday gives a great start to a weekend. Wish I had more time to have yet another butter dosa session.

Butterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Dosa

Butterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Dosa

Govind, the owner of a mobile Butter Dosa stall near Charminar, starts his work at 6:30 in the morning. People flock around his stall starting that early for a good breakfast and they come from all sections of the society.

The dosa he makes is sinfully delicious with molten butter oozing out from every possible direction (and pores) of the dosa. I would say, for weight watchers, this is one full month's worth of fat! He had a full carton of 500gms Amul Butter cubes by the side of his stall, and I would imagine he would be left with none by the end of his business hours, which as a matter of fact, I presume, would not go beyond 11AM. You can see the size of butter chunks that he puts on each dosa. This is really called indulgence.

I would definitely recommend this for everybody visiting Hyderabad for tourism, or any other purpose. A butter dosa, followed by a butter idlly and wada, an Irani chai and a Charminar Heritage Walk would be an ideal Sunday for anybody. You wouldn't have to eat a lot of food the whole day if you eat a butter dosa in the morning. So I'd suggest you go for the Paradise Biryani some other day.

Painted Stork

Painted Stork

I wonder if this one really is a painted stork. The wings don't really resemble that of one. I guess the inner part of a painted stork's wings should have only streaks of white... this has solid b&w wings. Any clue?

Green Bee-Eater

Green Bee-Eater

A portrait of a green bee-eater taken at a pond near Narsapur, Medak, AP. There were a variety of other birds at that pond and my friends who were with me at this shoot were least interested in the bee-eater because apparently this is very common in Hyderabad. For them it was like shooting a street dog at a tiger preserve. I had only seen this guy in pictures before.

I only wish I got sharper images.
