Did you shoot this in RAW? I strongly suspect you did. It looks amazing. Dynamic and colorful - beautiful white balance.

thanks! All jpg.... I'm not that daring yet w/ RAW. I should try shooting RAW from time to to time.... so I can practice. I hear that RAW does better with night shots? I read that somewhere.

Do it = take the plunge. Shoot RAW + Jpg if you have to so that, should you not like your results with a RAW shot, you can take the results that you're better at controlling with the Jpg.

Heck - if you're working on something in RAW and not getting the results you want then send me the file and let me take a crack at it. I can adjust the settings, get an AT style adjustment, and then tell you what I changed so you can learn from it.

Just try one shoot, and then play with the photos for a while.

With that shot I just posted up of the Wheelchair Freak Bike I was sitting there vacillating between B&W and color, and cropped or not. I wasn't sure which was best. Then it hit me - why the hell am I acting like this is the last photo I'll ever take? I should be playing around experimenting because almost certainly that will benefit my photos in the future, and those are likely to be much better.

      Experiment now to improve later!

(edit - yes, I have found RAW to be better with night shots since you can keep the shutter speed reasonable by underexposing, and then correcting later. Particularly if you like that gritty B&W feel)
