This is the intersection of the 5 and 14 freeways, detroyed in an earthquake in 1971 and again in 1992. It was named for a motorcycle officer who died here shortly after the second quake.

correct-o. I was actually right there during an earthquake, in slow-moving traffic, heading for the valley. Crossed my fingers and prayed I didn't experience what happened to that unfortunate pickup truck driver in the previous quake.
