Evacuation Day

Evacuation Day by dietrich.
The National Park Service and its partners commemorated "Evacuation Day" in front of Federal Hall today. The event marks the 225th anniversary of the British's departure from New York. At 2pm both British and American soldiers dressed in period uniforms ceremoniously lowered the Union Jack flag and replaced it with the Stars and Stripes.

Wow. Brilliant catch here my friend - like passing moments on a timeline. Love the walking feet in the background too. So good.

This was a special event...the last of the commeration of the 225th anniversary events of the revolution. It has not been done in over 25 years if I understood correctly.
