June 2: Flash Experimentation 063/365

I remember reading dreadfuldan's photo comments, and hearing him say that he bounces his flash off the ceiling to give him that really soft subtle bright light. So keeping in mind that I had a digital camera with a build in flash, I thought I'd use a mirror to get the same effect. Lo and behold I think I did.

You can see how nice the look. I may put up picture of each but containing no flash just for comparison.

To take full advantage of Flickr, you should use a JavaScript-enabled browser and
install the latest version of the Macromedia Flash Player.

Just bounce the flash off the mirror so it hits the ceiling..

Hey Olly, bounce flash is the way to go. Back before i had a digital SLR i'd use a setup a bit like this on my little camera. I used to carry round some aluminium foil to bounce the flash.

I've just built a cheap bounce flash add-on today. i cut up an old cd and glued it to a bent up piece of coat hanger (as a frame to sit on the camera).
testing it out and seems to work real fine, but one concern that i've heard of ... have you ever heard of too much light bouncing back into the flash and causing the flash burn out? can that happen ... hate to see that.
