London's Tower Bridge in the Magic Hour

London's Tower Bridge in the Magic Hour

I really don't think I need to say much about this shot. Only that it is NOT the famous London Bridge! :)

Cool Night in Amsterdam

Cool Night in Amsterdam

I just had to stop and capture this night shot of the church tower in the distance along one of the many canals in beautiful Amsterdam.

Rain drops on the red Trabant in Prague

Rain drops on the red Trabant in Prague

While walking down the street looking for a place to eat, I spotted this car sitting near a Cuban restaurant. The four headlights on the hood caught my eye more so than the bright red paint. The raindrops add a certain little something too :)

Since there were no other cars parked in front of it, I was fortunate to have a lot of space to crouch down and snap this shot before continuing through my journey through this wonderful city.

Commanding The Sky Above The Louvre

Commanding The Sky Above The Louvre

I spent almost 8 hours walking through The Louvre this date and was taken back by the view out of the window. I did not have a tripod and had to prop myself up against a window frame while I took my bracketed shots.

I moved around several times until I saw this angle capturing the wonderful storm clouds, the pyramid, the beautiful building and of course the statue that appears to be commanding the sky.

If you enjoy art, a visit to this museum is a must. Just don't forget to look out the windows too!

Hope you enjoy this as much as I am... Happy New Year!

The White Tower - London at Sunset

The White Tower - London at Sunset

Walking the grounds at the Tower of London was one of the highlights of my visit a couple of weeks ago. I knew that if I looked for the right spot, at the right time, I would be able to capture a spectacular shot. I hope you agree with this one.

After listening to the Yeoman for about 45 minutes, he set us loose on the grounds to explore the area. I knew that sunset was coming and I walked around the oldest structure there until I found just the right place to setup my tripod and shoot.

Also, as a side note - the bridge you see off to the left in the background is the Tower Bridge.

Here is a little more about the White Tower from Wikipedia...

The castle which later became known as the Tower of London was built by William the Conqueror in 1066. It began as a timber fortification enclosed by a palisade. In the next decade work began on the White Tower, the great stone keep that still dominates the castle today. The precise date of the White Tower's foundation is unknown, and it is also uncertain how long building took. It is traditionally held that construction began in 1078. This is because the Textus Roffensis records that Gundulf, Bishop of Rochester, oversaw the building work under instruction from William the Conqueror. Dendrochronological evidence suggests construction of the White Tower began in 1075–1079. The archaeology of the standing building suggestst there was a pause in construction between 1080 and 1090–1093, although it is unknown why. Gundulf did more than just oversee work and was a skilled architect. Rochester's castle and cathedral were rebuilt under his auspices. As the main castle in England's capital, the Tower of London was an important royal building. The keep built by Gundulf bears testament to this as it was one of the largest in Christendom.
