That is pathetic to try and harrass people's videos. This is a great video, and very interesting. Thanks for sharing that!

Thanks for the visits all! One thing about the galapagos that amazed me was how the majority of the animals didn't seem to have a fear of humans. Seemed a testament to the way Ecuador has been managing the islands of late, limiting tourism to a level that does not damage the environment.

This is really cool....i LOVE sea turtles...i didn't realize that the video here was this nice. since i'm a woman, i have the right to change my mind...which i just did. I'm taking down my no video pic right now!
and, i want to say to you asshole=steveroake who came here to slam flickr for having videos, that you would never be a friend of mine...and you have no right to SLAM David because he put up a video instead of a photo. WHO MADE YOU GOD? and why do you put all your blame on him....does he own flickr? no....so go to the ones who do, and shut the F up! how rude you are...you make we cool photographers look bad by your total lack of manners...and i'm talking about you...steve roake, and anyone else who went to a site and slammed them for having photos up. crap, that's so stupid...flickr started with photos..doh! he needs to try and get a life, since he doesn't seem to know very much about anything.
ok, rant done. ;) sorry about that, could not help myself.

I'm from the No Video on Flickr camp but seriously man , to those of you i've been traveling with this week it is MESSED UP that you come here and spit on their page like that.

The only reason i came here was to apologize on behalf of the protest group. I am appalled. Shame on you. Grow up.

PS. I did watch the video. It is in good taste. Thank you for that. Some of us only wish videos and photos become a seperate entity but we think/hope Flickr is still working that out. However, if they can't and all the videos look like this one then score for video land. Because we just dont want to see trash. Turtles are not trash so thank you.

(thank you wings69 for pointing this out)

wings and zomg, I appreciate your sentiments! I'll probably delete the protest comments after a while, but I thought I'd leave them up for now to show how some people can be pretty unreasonable, and for the sake of irony.

I recognize that some people don't like the idea of video on flickr, and, though I don't agree that it is a bad idea, I realize that people have a right to their opinion. Just wanted to showcase let their comments speak for themselves. For what it's worth, the only negative result of flickr adding video I have experienced has been a few anti-video folks doing this stuff. I know they don't represent the majority of anti-video people, but, well, there it is.

sea turtles have saved peoples lives....swam them to shore so they wouldn't drown. i think that's soo cool. :)
it must have been awesome to be under water and see this, and get to follow him/her. did you get to pet the turtle??

  20. Jumbo22 (62 months ago | reply)

Magnificent video!! It is so peacefull. Thanks for sharing. :-)

As for the silly comments from all the anti-video people: ….it is not video that created a bad culture on youtube, it is people….. and as can be seen here, some people on Flickr obviously has the same stupid mentality. You guys do not deserve to be on Flickr…. you are most welcome to close your Flickr accounts and join up with your own tribe on youtube …trust me, you will feel a lot more at home there, whether you like video or not!!

wings: actually I did lightly touch the shells of a couple of the swimming turtles. They didn't seem to mind, as they were mainly grazing on seaweeds. They are very large animals, so it was neat to be in the water with them!
