Frederick A Cook Mansion Bushwick. Dr Frederick Cook was a resident of Bushwick when he attempted to be the first man to reach the North Pole. He was at one time the most celebrated explorer of the world, entertained by Kings and Presidents, until he was determinded to be a fraud. There is controversy as to the legitamacy of his claims, and of those of the man given the credit for getting to 90°N, Cmdr Robert Peary.
