365 Project - N.58 - Shekou-China (Ps)

This pics of Enrico has exactly the same set up of the the "burned Brian" (365 put N.54) but not much editing on it. Today I was trying to have a pic done with the Brenizer method but it was a disaster, matching all the shots was a nightmare and time was running out, I had to take the pics of the day. So, I got Enrico off of the sofa and had him in front of my camera and you can see from his expression what he was thinking: "this guy is not normal!", or something like that.

Exposure 1/250s
Aperture f/16.0
Focal length: 112mm (70-200mm f/2.8)

Fishing Boat - Shekou-China (Ps)

Fishing Boat - Shekou-China (Ps)

There are persons, families, that live and work on this boats, spending their nights at the sea and their days at port cleaning and selling fishes and shells, they leave the boats sometime just for small shopping and then, in the evening, heading back to the sea. They're fourty and look sixty, their bones are curved from the cold and water that wets them all day.
And then you complain because your garage gate is too tight and you need to be careful to park your Merchedes?

365 Project - N.57 - Shekou-China (Ps)

365 Project - N.57 - Shekou-China (Ps)

"Do not listen to your eyes, and do not believe what you see. All they show is limitation. Look with your understanding, find out what you already know, then you will learn how to fly."
(from "Jonathan Livingston Seagull", but I'm not sure that these are the word Richard Back used, I have the book in italian and that's my translation.)

Today I had some time to spend with myself and I went to have a walk to the port where there were the fishing boats coming back from their day in the sea and with them lots of seagulls came too. Watching them flying around the boats and all the people waiting for the fresh fishes, made me think at one of the books that I red many years ago and that changed my way to approach life in a certain way. It didn't really told me nothing more than what I was always believing, it just was explaining me in a much better way the thoughts I was trying to organize in my mind. It just gave a true shape to a philosophy that was already mine. It impressed me so much, I can recall today, almost 25 years later, the exact feelings I had reading it, how amazed I was to "listen" to someone telling me in such nice form, which were my thoughts.
The above passage explain it all, only if we go over our physical limitation we can discover what we are able to, only if we believe in our hart more than our eyes, we can find our way to the happiness.

Exposure 1/800s
Aperture f/3.2
Focal length: 200mm (70-200mm f/2.8)
ISO speed 200
Lighting: big ball of fire in the sky shot through cloudy weather, above camera :)

365 Project - N.56 - Shekou-China

365 Project - N.56 - Shekou-China

Today's picture is dedicated to this 365 project. When I started, 56 days ago, I knew it was challenging and complicated, especially if you do not have all the free time you'd like to have during the day, but had no idea it was so engaging. It occupies my mind for most of my spare time, leads me to explore areas of photography that I would never have done otherwise in search of new inspirations pushing beyond what is my "comfort zone" (when ever I was going to be interested the blueprint otherwise?) and is pushing me to take thousands of photos that otherwise would not have ever taken. And let's face it, but how much I enjoy it then?
Perhaps we should adopt similar systems for every type of interest or thing we have and do, from the things we like to those which we dislike, but we need to do right by force of circumstances. I do not know how it could implement such family management practices (which I hate!) such us going to the post office, sort invoices, track bills, etc. But if you could do it, it could also be fun to queue at the bank.......... no, no, this it would never work.

In this picture, I still had fun experimenting with the "painting with light" technique which is inspired (or stolen?) by the photographic works of Pablo Picasso, using a long time exposure and drawing in the air with a colored torch.

Exposure 5s
Aperture f/16.0
Focal length: 35mm (24-70mm f/2.8)
ISO speed 100
Lighting: one Goldenshell 600W on camera left at 9hrs shot through medium softbox at 1/2 of power, triggered with Cactus V4s (flash fired at the end of the exposure).

365 Project - N.55 - Shekou-China (Ps)

Today I'm not of too many words and also my creativity is kind of sleeping. So, this is a snap shot of one of the best bartenders I know, she works in the most popular bar of Shekou, one of the best in Shenzhen. The amazing thing with her is that she doesn't speak a word of English and my Chinese is still to weak for normal conversation, but we understand each other pretty good (yeah, I know what you thinking, is not only when I order my drink...).
