Fishhook Barrel (Ferocactus wislizeni)-A sturdy, upright cactus with
stout, curved spines that were once used as fishhooks to grip bait
while fishing. This barrel is often used in desert landscapes for its
drought-tolerance and its striking form and flowers. The blossoms
attract bees and appear sporadically throughout late summer and fall.
Look for this cactus in the Otteson Entry Garden.
