now now now now now..............you have surpassed yourself, even my expectations of you..............this, i mean THIS has tossed me into a wholly new dimension!
lots of things occuring at once; im thinking of 'the fly', the usual twiglet zone nightmare (yes, i said twiglet again), im thinking your nose took the photo, that this elderly-great-aunt has suffered an even worse fate than poor Gregor (Kafka's bug-boy, Man who supported his family but mysteriously turned into a roach one day)!

i can almost hear little ferrety scratchy buglike sounds and crackles going on.

brilliance!

The Eyes of DerrickT.

There's a stoic throwback to a family resident fighting the visions and perceptions he receives...even at a dinner table.
(accompany high-pitch strings ala Kubrick-style)
I'm almost about to steady myself before blacking out and taking off the glasses to see if what you are seeing is indeed...what you are seeing.

splendid work my man!
get yourself a movie-camera already!!!.....
...so eagerly awaiting that day....

I'm back and laughing again! This is so endearing Derrick! No symbolic brilliance from me - - I take this all literally! Imagine if you will...

Derrick rings up his Great Aunt...

Great Auntie: Hello?
Derrick: Hi Auntie! Oh good, you're there, i thought I'd stop over...
Great Auntie - Hello dear! Oh, well stop by later, I'm just starting lunch...
Derrick - oh, no, no! It's quite alright, I'll sit and keep you company!

(Derrick arrives with hidden camera and meets Auntie in her kitchen. He engages her in conversation, trying to find an opportune moment to snap a few zippy images... darn! She keeps looking up from her soup!

Derrick: So what's in that soup, tell me all about it - - hey, I know! name all the vegetables... See if you can see them!
Great Auntie: Well, let's see, there's corn, okra... and I don't know what this is...

He pulls out his camera, but she keeps looking up when speaking foiling his attempts at a candid shot. Finally, a bright idea! He'll hide the camera between his face and his spectacles! Yes, why didn't he think of this before! She'll never suspect a thing!...

~klik~
A masterpiece is born...

Oh, this is such a Blessed Event (not the film, though!) to receive all of these wonderful words!

If only I could afford a movie camera, then I would certainly love to own one! :) But, I plan to own a movie camera one day anyhow, so I suppose I should be saving my money!

Ann, that had me absolutely laughing out loud! Such excellent commentary as always! What would have been interested is had you included something about me morphing into a giant insect! Ha! Like in Kafka's great story. My Great Aunt was born with a learning disability, but she is just as human as anyone else, but she isn't as "quick" as we are. She lives with my Grandparents and she has people pick her up in a van for church every sunday, sunday night and wednesday nights, and she also goes to a church club at a Civic Center every other night, so she stays busy and is entertained quite often. My Grandparents leave every saturday to go shopping and to go out to eat in different cities. It's "their day", so to speak. My Grandmother cooks every day of the week (except for Saturday and Sunday) so Saturday is the day my Aunt gets to have something else for lunch/supper.

Speaking of my Grandmother, she was admitted to the hospital 2 days ago after losing her memory of what she did that entire day! She basically had a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack) which frightened a lot of my family. It was funny, because when my Mom went out there straight from work, she was sitting with her and my Grandmother says: What am I doing out here? I'm not supposed to be out here. I don't have enough TIME to be out here!...Haha! I went to visit her later that evening and she seemed to be in good spirits. I walked in and said: "Granny! You're not supposed to be in here! You don't have enough time!"...

The good news is that she was sent home yesterday and is back to her great self! This was absolutely Great news for everyone, naturally!

Anyhow, thank you, Ann, as always!! Love you and your words!

Krissie, Haha! Well, that's flattering, even though you are already 'taken'. I don't suppose your boyfriend would be too happy about that, eh? ;) If you like to be made-up like bizarre things, like to create surreal settings for photography shoots, like fly to space in Monoliths (often going to Pluto for my daily visits), then maybe you'd fit in! Funny stuff. Thanks for the comments/praise, as always! Much appreciation!

And thanks to EVERYONE else who spent their time commenting here! Your words are jewels to me! :)

This is my absolute favorite of your plethora of genius bits and bobs.

I'm not sure what I love most about this, Derrick - is it the multiple grandma heads (and the expression on those faces), the brilliance of letting us see inside and outside the view of the glasses at the same time, the cellophane packet of crackers, the epitome of all house dresses, the bottle of Jergen's on the sink...hmmm....I must ponder.

In the meantime, I'm happy to hear your grandma is on the mend! Continued healing, Derrick's Grandma!

The Albanian: Glad you like! :)

John: Ha, good to see your presence over here, as always!

WomanChild: Wow, what a laudatory comment full of praise and jewels! I find it interesting (and somehow quite comical) how you perceive this as being indifferent on what exactly you like about it. I suppose I've done something right then, eh? ;) I was actually waiting to see if anyone would mention the Jergen's bottle! I have another photograph which also showcases a Jergen's lotion bottle --- can anyone guess which one? :)

Anyhow, thank you for the wishes and positiveness in regards to my Grandma! Much appreciation to you even more for that! Thank you again! :)

Mel: Thanks, thanks, thanks, as always! It's always good to see you floating about over here in the chamber of ...of...well, yeah!

Chris: And to make it even more interesting: It is quite absolute and well-thwacked! Thank you for the comments! :)

depassagem: Oh yes, the "early days" of Kubrick is most certainly the "way to go" when it comes to his films. The mere experimentalisms of his earlier films are often perfectly curved and create more of an "uproar" if you ask me. There is a "I was ahead of my time and I KNEW it" type of feel to them, and that speaks the loudest in my opinion.

Much appreciation for the comments, as always, my friend!

sMac: Yes, Ann is a million stars and her often honeyed comments treat me with wide-eyed amazement and eternal joy! She should never go over-looked that is for sure. :) ...Really happy that you checked in over here and commented! Much appreciation to you! :)

nardell: It was quite an interesting experience to create this without her acknowledging the fact that I was actually doing it. She is quite shy when it comes to getting her photograph taken. When I playfully point the camera at her, she will say: Alrighttttt Derriccckk!!"...haha! She will often chase me with her walking stick around the house. I actually recorded this as a movie once while my uncle was in the background, banging on a frying pan, which was to give it a more "bizarre" feel, which worked quite well I must say! If the file format on my video recorder on the camera was "supportable" by the "Movie Maker" on my computer, then I would have much fun, but out of all of the million formats, it will absolutely not accept that particular file for some odd reason! It's a bummer, but I am not one to complain! :)

Anyhow, thanks very much for the comments, my friend!

T Glow: Thank you, thank you!

mia: ...and your visual expression is sparkling! It was born within you, y'know? :) ...Thanks, as always, for the comments!!

Occasus: Yes, indeed. It all depends on what you want to do and how you want to go about doing it, no matter what "type" of equipment one may have. If it can be thought of, then it can be done! Thanks for the comments and wonderful praise. Truly appreciated, always! :)

possum4all: Thank you for always replying here with your never-vanishing words of encouragement and glistening praise! It's essentially about everyone else as far as I am concerned, because it is the "viewer" who will be giving me their thoughts and opinions on the image, which to me is important in a way, but not as important as people's taking their time out to even give me a look. That's truly a blessing in itself right there! Both that and the endless praise!

Anyhow, thank you truly, truly! :)

Shooting Chris: "Triangle"...certainly not the Bermuda Triangle, eh? ;) ...Kidding. What author is this?

Your Grandma is watching over you. Just look deeply and listen with your eyes open...:) ...Thanks for the visit and the words, as always! :)

Justine: Haha! Yes, yes, indeed. I don't think it would be nice to actually be seeing three heads of a particular person I am looking at! Although...that may be a 'good thing' if the time halts for it. :) ...I truly appreciate your comments! Truly, truly!

ownyuen: Why thank you! And hello! :)

Shooting Chris (again): Must I not? :)

(along with the infamous "existing behind us".) so many brilliant details here. the vegetable soup mid-chew (and are those saltines on the table?) and how the glasses seem to give each of the three faces a different expression - each one somehow more worn than the next. this is incredibly pleasing imagery derrick. i could saturate my eyes with this scene all day.

3amfromkyoto, stradivari, asian girl, shooting chris (thanks for the link!), K, kagogo, brain map, grace: MUCH appreciation to all of you, all of the time, forever, eternity, and beyond!! The comments. The praise. The taking the time to visit is tremendously appreciated and the words always echo within. Thanks to you all! :)

Lauren: Haha, I know the feeling! I often ask myself that many times when I am visiting someone's folio and I see something new by them. But then again, we're not always on flickr to see the "new" uploads, so they do have a way of slipping by!

Yes, those are saltine crackers there, although many times they have "unsalted" crackers (which I suppose could be changed technically to "Unsalted Saltine Crackers"...ha!), which I find to be much more rewarding for myself personally because many times there will already be an abundance of salt inside of the particular food I am eating them with (usually chili, vegetable soup, &c., &c...) and the saltine crackers will make it a bit too salty for my liking. I am not a "picky eater" by a long shot (very long!) but I don't necessarily like things to be over-salted, especially when I can help it. :) ...Don't know why I become a rambler, but I suppose it's who I am, so why even ask myself that, right? Hahaha...

I'm glad that you found this to be "saturating" for the eyes! It's really wonderful to know.

Thanks, again!

Mel: Right now? ...Oh, he's at home. ;)

Anyhow, deeply impressed and flattered by your comments!

Christi: Yes, would you like to swap places? How do you think you would feel living inside of my body? What experiences would you expect to be forced into your brain (which would be my brain in reality)...? This reminds me of a movie. One of which I am unable to recall at this time. Hmm!
