Man I knew you were a vampire. Great portrait, not natural light though.

Pattay: The teeth were hand-made (which he made); the same technique they use to make teeth for vampires in the films (not your silly-billy plastic teeth you can buy at stores during Halloween!). Thanks, as always, for stopping in and providing me with your kind comments/praise! I am always overly-flattered and thankful! :)
T Bell: More models of weirdology would be wonderful, wouldn't it? I often times find it hilarious how, when speaking of such, people become 'weary' and puzzled (I suppose these are the one's who are closed-minded?) because it isn't what they like, or what they are interested in, so you immediately become "weird" (which is used in terms of being a 'closed book' filled with judgemental multitudes of ignorance) and in their eyes you become "un-normal" because they are too closed-figured and quick to judge someone based upon one level, one minute, one tiny-small-morcel of a percentage of a person's interest/hobby. I suppose we just need to 'hunt them down', eh? ;) ...
Anyhow, thanks, as usual, for the comments! :)
portral: This is my uncle here, but don't be surprised if you see something similar of me in the future months. ;) ...Thanks for the comments! Always appreciated!

to me the main attraction are his hands, gosh! I've said before they are perfect! And you guys definitely rock when you develop projects together! ;-)
Mark-B [deleted] (70 months ago | reply)
i remember barnabas collins and dark shadows. he really does look like the character on tv. what about you, derrick? ever tried putting that stuff on?
*estrella [deleted] (70 months ago | reply)
now THAT is genuinely creepy, boy!
you even got the 'Hammer' lighting goin on!
you are a constant marvel:)))))

Ludmilla: We have a lot of similarities, and I bet our hands would even match-up well! Ha! More 'mental similarities', I would have to say, but when I am 51 years old, I may be able to pose as his 50-year-old 'clone' (!) ...because you would be surprised at the profusion of convergencies/coincedences/parallels we have! And it never ends...
Thanks for chuggin' a comment here, 'milla! Always appreciated! :)

Mark: Yes, he is actually a huge fan of Dark Shadows and often recalls days coming home from school, not being able to WAIT to see "what happens next", which we can all relate to in one way or another. From dvds, cards, memorabilia, memorizations (which have been filmed of him performing as Barnabas) amongst many other things, I have to say he's the biggest fan. In fact, he had the opportunity a few years ago to meet the man himself (Jonathan Fried) who was involved in a play here in Georgia at one of the major colleges (can't remember the exact city), but he didn't go (surprisingly enough for me and for everyone else). Either way, the stories are always interesting. Not only the 'show' was good, but the two films were wonderful as well. He always catches the re-runs and continues to keep up with it (even going by the exact calender-dates from the time of airing!) even today. I usually try to catch the re-runs when I can, but you know how that goes! :)
Have I ever tried putting it on? Make-up, I assuming? Just dance a bit deeper into the chambers of my stream and you can see for yourself! Okay, maybe you shouldn't have to do that when I can easily say 'yes' or 'no' --- so, yes, of course I've put it on! Not this particular experiment, but with other experiments...yes. :)
Thanks for the comments, as always!
Lou-magic: Thanks to you, as always! Yes, the 'Hammer'-light (!) is the way to go. Or, if better, then I say go for that as well! :) ...Always appreciate you!

Portal23: you must remember that natural light is deadly for a vampire...
Derrick: Very cool uncle you have. Must be a lot of fun to hang out with...
Dead Air (70 months ago | reply)
A bit campier than a lot of your shots with him, which is a nice change. Of course, if I saw him like that at the end of a dark alley, perhaps I wouldn't think "campy" after all!

(Did you make him face up?)
Such a chic vampire.
I'd like to have a glass of tomato juice with him.

Your uncle's awesome , Derrick . ^^ .
DerrickT (70 months ago | reply)
Wow, all of you are magically kind! My appreciation is never thread-like, I must say, but more of an ample domain, collectively stamped into my soul, and my appreciation is always there for you all, even though you guys aren't able to visually see it. Just believe me. :) Thanks, thanks, thanks!
Yes, he has the board game as well, of which is in excellent condition! He also has a mask of the 'old Barnabas' where he turns old (gruesomely wonderful!) in what I believe was one of the Dark Shadows films, where the curtains were opened and "natural light" made its presence onto his indelicateness. In fact, Dick Smith did the make-up work (which is yet another reason to be overly-interested!).
And yes, I am related to vampires, and who knows, I may be one myself! You all will just have to wait and find out in the future if I am or not. But, then again, you may not ever know. ;)

Something else I wanted to mention!
If you guys ever get the chance, check out these two vampire books (if you're interested in vampire stories anyhow):
Varney The Vampire by Thomas Preskett Prest (which is a long, long story that comes in three volumes and is one of the first vampire novels ever. I haven't read the book(s), but my uncle has them and has been working on them and has been keeping me informed. Interestingly enough, he says that many of the going-ons in "Varney The Vampire" remind him of "Dark Shadows" and some of the incidents that took place in that show, which makes him wonder if the directors/producers actually took some of the story-lines from "Varney The Vampire" and added them into some of the "Dark Shadows" story-lines. I plan to read it after he's finished, even though I've basically 'heard' what has 'happened' already...)
Here's a bit of information about it:
www.unicorngarden.com/varney.htm
or here (which may be a better link for information):
www.internationalhero.co.uk/v/varney.htm
And, the second thing I wanted to mention is John Polidori's The Vampyre, which is a complete opposite of Varney... --- as far as their length is concerned. The Vampyre is actually a very interesting story, history-wise, as much as it is an interesting vampire tale.
From an online source:
Byron's personal physician (and uncle to Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Christina Rossetti) during his travels in Europe, Polidori had the good fortune to be present at the famous ghost-story sessions with Byron and the Shelleys at the Villa Diodati; the story he began there apparently came to naught, but he cribbed Byron's idea (at least according to some critics) and wrote The Vampyre, the first vampire novel in English.
Yes, the "first vampire novel in English!" Interestingly enough, the book is also in "Play" format in case you want to read it both ways.
If you're curious, you can read it here:

He accually looks kinda sexy..hehe
I looove your experimentations!

O! and I finally got my pro account! (someone bought it for me!..allways amazed by everyones kindness on here! :D)
DerrickT (70 months ago | reply)
Krissie: Thank you for always supplying me with an array of praise and kind comments!
I would rather present my "visions" (when the vision refers to people, or the shape of a person, etc., etc.) on others other than myself, because I feel like I have more "control" over how I want it to appear and what I can do to make the image stronger. When I am working alone, it's a bit difficult (but always a challenge!) but sometimes it has to be that way for time-frame purposes. :)
c la r i s: Thank you! :)
Jen S: Yes, he was! It's all about having fun anyhow, without getting overly-hyped about it, although maintaining that level of creative insight and concentration to get the image how you want it...
Glad you stopped by and thanks for the kindness! :)
noqontrol: Thanks, thanks! :)
Nitallica: Glad you like! Thanks!
goblinqueen: Thanks!
Jaqueline: Haha, aww! Your english is just fine --- no worries! I can always determine what you are trying to say to me (and others when I read your replies to comments and your comments to others' photos) and it's always appreciated! Perhaps I just need to learn your language? ;)
Anyhow.
No, that is the only one that was deleted, but I'm glad you asked! Perhaps I shall do more of these and dedicate them to you some day in the future! I'm really thankful that your enjoy my experiments and such. Like I said earlier, it is all in fun and enjoying yourself. If you're not enjoying yourself with photography (or anything, for that matter) then there's really no need in doing it.
Yes, he's very nice and kind. I always enjoy being around him. In fact, I am going over there tomorrow, so we will probably be creating more improv-captures, although I do have a few ideas I want to lay on the table for him to contemplate. ;) ...Your uncles need to get on the ball! Perhaps they are not "weird" enough? :) ...Thank you, as always, for the comments, my friend!
myrte: Haha, you're always a delight. I am, again, grateful that someone is enjoying these experimentations. I think I have most fun when I am working with someone else. This is why I need more "Models of Weirdology!" ...Perhaps you should be one? :) It's often a shame that many people that we correspond to are either in different countries, or are quite a ways away. But, then again, there's always a bright side. Flickr to the rescue! :) ...I think you should definitely get 'down and dirty' and if you need that recipe (in a more thorough explanation), then let me know and I will provide you with it, as well as a few secrets. ;)
And good for you for getting a pro account, and an extra pat-on-the-back for the person who bought it for you. That was very kind of them. There are still a handful of kind people on Earth --- they are out there, for certain.
Thank you, thank you, as usual, for your kind comments and commentarial delights. I'm always grateful. :)

This is a fantastic portrait Derrick! I am loving this lurking element of a dark, modern fairytale here. The composition is wonderfully arranged, superb 'lighting' and the overall result, marvelously 'tongue in cheek'.
I have to agree with Pattay here...love to see that film indeed!
