Not to say anything about your uncle, but this picture is reminding me more of Bob from Twin Peaks than David Gilmour.

    3. DerrickT (74 months ago | reply)

Dead Air: haha, i promise he wouldn't care. in fact, he would chuckle because he is one of 'us', ya dig? :)

if you look at the booklet from "Meddle", you will see a 4-piece photograph on one of the pages (i forget the exact page) and we were trying to obtain the 'exactness' of that particular image. and well, quite frankly, i think we did a good job!

thank you for the comments as always, friend! :)

what is PM, this marked on his head, a nice weird shor, this an hole atmosphere !!!!

    5. DerrickT (74 months ago | reply)

hi nefis! thank you for stopping by the circus!

the "PM" is in-fact an "RM", which i will leave as a mysterious template. ;)

your comments are always appreciated! :)

    6. néfis (74 months ago | reply)

thx to you too for your kind and fresh comment, so "RM", maybe "rythm of memory", or simply " really mad", so i'am going to live my hole life with a terrible question without any answer, in fact i think that it is already my life : " question without answer" ...
thx for stopping too, nice to meet you dear derrick, or should i say Mr. T ...?

Love the this double!!! First I was wondering how you did this as a long exposure, before I read your comment! Great Portrait!!!!

    8. KnowWonNose [deleted] (74 months ago | reply)

He has an incredible look made all the more powerful by your composition.

      I really like the eclipse.

    11. original_ann (74 months ago | reply)

Goodness... I find this very symbolic of your relationship (perhaps?) - he being able to 'see' through your eyes, ears and thought what you 'see'... a kindred synesthetic lifeforce!

    12. anideg (74 months ago | reply)

      nice bubble-cool portrait

    13. *estrella [deleted] (74 months ago | reply)

      too menacing to be Gilmour!
excellent image of course; something iconic about it...initially it struck me as Rasputin!!!

      and 'Meddle'...love that album...

Wow, your uncle has an amazing face, kind of Tom Petty-ish. Uber-cool portrait with the double-exposure-ness. I would also like to see your freshly naked melon. And I hope you got a pedicure before slipping on those new flip-flops.

    15. Monster. (74 months ago | reply)

      Wonderfully unusual and curiously unsettling...

    16. -Antoine- (74 months ago | reply)

Very nicely designed double-exposure, Derrick. It has a mystic quality to it.

    17. DerrickT (74 months ago | reply)

nefis: yes, i suppose "RM" could be deciphered in any direction as you mentioned, but i wouldn't hold your breath! although, you could if you wanted, but don't blame me for the purple face. ;)

and no, you don't have to live your entire life without knowing the answer. you will probably dream of the answer soon so be on the lookout. and "Derrick" is just fine. or "alien" or "dsjfldksj" or whatever you feel like calling me. I am easy to get along with! thanks again for the comments! :)

jot.de: yes, in fact the shot was interesting and the exposure was somewhat of a "hmm" you know? and i am speaking upon the originality of first crafting such an idea. thank you as always! :)

John: thank you as always, kind sir!

      __sensual: thank you! :)

ansel: well i am glad you enjoy! thanks always!

ann: in fact, we are often living in parallel dimensions, as there will be times when his world seems to be merging with mine. especially after speaking of various different subjects after having not been around him for a few days, or even a week or longer. he's a very kind man, very talented and artistic (he's a theatrical make-up artist, painter, sculptor and maker of things) and quite enjoyable to be around. i appreciate your comments as the norm! :)

      ani: thanks! :)

Lou: ha! well, we weren't actually trying to turn him into Dave, but instead were going for more of the same style portraiture they had fashioned in the booklet, which looked very similar to this. i suppose i should have provided the actual image with this example to give one an 'idea' of the comparison. but, if one has the cd and the booklet, then they can check for themselves if they feel fanciful enough! ...anyhow, always a joy to see you over here, mirlo magic. thanks always! :)

Kara: thanks! i am certain he would be thrilled to know of such kind sentiments! he also has a Robert Powell nose as well, which he seems to comment on every now and then!

i shall come up with something in regards to my "melon" and my feet are actually quite nice --- no need for a pedicure. :)

thank you always for the comments! :)

Monster.: just the way i like it! thanks for the comments, friend! :)

mr. ant: thanks, thanks, thanks! :)

His head fits, but he doesn't feel comfortable inside. Derrick, you've outdone yourself. Really great work here.

Derrick Derrick I can't believe you’re promoting my photostream here that is so super sweet of you. I should pay you commissions for being such a great manager :)
and linking it to this incredible portrait is such a huge compliment. it is a fantastic shot of a portrait, I don't know him in person but I think I get who he is from this portrait. such a great, interesting, complicated, wise, brilliant, sad, powerful expression and I guess there is much more to it. Well done. Really. Well done.

his gaze through the haze betrays a phrase which once encapsulated all meaning and now is lost... because the maze of meaning has a cost.

      O:) shine D shine!

      Seventh Seal. Cool.

Re: Freddie is probably about 6-7. I got him from a shelter when he was about 1.

    26. depassagem (74 months ago | reply)

He looks a lot like an Ingmar Bergman character... but I can't recall the movie or the name of the character, which makes my comment completely useless

    27. DerrickT (74 months ago | reply)

      mistubako: thanks!

anna: why thank you! i am glad you like! :)

auntie: your comments are always appreciated! i am happy you enjoyed! thanks always! :)

grace: yes, you are correct! i'm not certain if i have outdone myself, but thank you as always! :)

HAINT: yes! quite cool indeed! and Eric Dolphy as well! :)

rynokins: freestyling maniacal magic! fragile flows like the ghosts from the bellows. thanks for the words as always! :)

CA: Seventh Seal: One of my all-time favorite Ingmar films, or any film, although "Persona" and "Cries and Whispers" are a bit higher on the zenith. :) thanks as always!

depassagem: your comments are never 'useless', my friend. ANY comment is a good comment, whether negative or positive (maturely speaking). Well, i could list a few of Ingmar's films...perhaps that will strike something inside of you to recall? :)

      Summer With Monika
      Cries and Whispers
      Wild Strawberries
      Persona
      Hour of The Wolf
      The Passion of Anna

...and on and on. Max Von Sydow, perhaps?! I love that man.

thanks for the comments, my friend!

great shot (but he looks more like rodger Waters... or maybe iggy pop)... I like the double exposure concept... and where did you get all these fans?

    34. In-jeannius [deleted] (74 months ago | reply)

I get here late all the time.

But this is a good one, Derrick...I saw it the other day, buthad nothing witty and intelligen tto say

But who cares? I LOVE this for all that it is , and for what those above have all said

You impress me everytime I stroll thru your work

    35. Vida Morkunas (seawallrunner) (74 months ago | reply)

oooo, I like. there's more iggy-pop than pink-floyd quality to your uncle's gaze in this photo.

This is a masterful image. I really like he clean design of he forms and composition and the way they are balanced by the grittyness of the portrait itself. An image that sticks with you
