My Flickr Pro subscription is about to expire. For complicated reasons my pictures now live on my PC using Picasa, which links really easily to Picasa on the web. That application is not as sexy as Flickr but it does what I want it to and it is completely free to use, so I am thinking seriously I might migrate over there and leave these pictures behind for posterity. They will all still exist if you remember the link to the relevant page but not all will still be visible when you visit my Flickr home page. (I think that's how it works).

Of course if someone wanted to buy me a Pro account extension I might think again (though I do in general dislike being locked into subscriptions...)

PPS I just noticed that Picasa has a 1Gb file limit and enables uploading of video as well as photos so I might end up having to pay for that too eventually. But 1) I hope that Google will keep upping the storage limit as it does for gmail and 2) upgrading my Picasa account to store 8Gb would cost me the same as keeping my Flickr account active.

Here are all the books I have been involved with so far (see 'notes' by moving the mouse over the picture). Of course if I had copies of all the magazines I have written for over the years I would need a wide-angle lense to fit them all in but this is a good overview of my works in my "new life"...

This juxtaposition is so delicious it's hard to believe it wasn't a joke by someone in the paper...
