That's an awesome shot. Was in Rhyolite only a few months ago, this is the old bank right?

Hi Sam.Lane. I opened the Milky Way image in Photoshop. I created an empty Layer 2 and filled it with black. I added a layer mask to Layer 2. Then I opened my photo of the building in another window, and carefully selected the areas of the building and filled the selection with black. I selected the areas outside the building and the window areas and filled with white. Then I copied the entire frame of the black/white image and pasted it into the layer mask of the Milky Way image.

Hi Joffley. I have to admit I don't know if this is the old bank.

this picture is amazing. checked out the exif data, but no information about the exposition. how long was it? (just curious) congratulations for the capture, anyway :)

    30. dennisbehm (12 months ago | reply)

      Hi wimpy_cup. Thanks for asking.

This is a 30 second exposure with an aperture of f/4 and ISO 6400. There is a lot of noise in this image, but f/4 is the fastest wide angle lens I own. This was taken at sea level so the light had to travel through a lot of atmosphere. I want to some day try this with a faster lens at a high elevation; I expect to get better results.
