A Sea King Mk4 is shown landing at Basra Airport.
During operations in Southern Iraq, Sea King Mk4s of 845 & 846 Naval Air Squadrons were tasked with multiple jobs to carryout during their tours of duty at Basra International Airport.
As part of the continuous front line operations, practicing for some events out in the field still went on.
A SAC of the Royal Air Force medical team was winched from the back of
the aircraft to the dusty ground, just outside the perimeter at Basra
Airport. The Sea King aircrew was made up of a Royal Marines
Corporal, 2 pilots, and a medical team who were on 24-hour standby for
any medical emergencies in the Multi National Division area, within
Southern Iraq. These emergencies ranged from RTC
