Where Woolworth's used to be, where my mother worked as the cook when staff had a canteen!

Cheveral Avenue shops

Cheveral Avenue shops

From a number 13 bus. Where the Co-op used to be when I was a child in the 1950s, with its long dark wooden counter, big white bacon slicer operated only by a man, I seem to remember, and assistants to whom you could give your mother's list and they would put it together for you. Our Co-op "divi" number was 29869. Everybody still remembers theirs. I remember Ration Books too with tear out sections.
