The Pacific Ocean arrives at Pacific Grove, Monterey with an explosive effect. Even on a calm day the power of the ocean is astounding with some spectacular shows.

Getting the Evil Eye

This Great Blue Heron was a huge bird...the largest GBH I've ever seen. It was asleep when I first saw it but when I started to click away it opened one eye and stared at me with such an evil eye. I shouted "Sorry", put my gear away and wandered off feeling so upset that I had distrubed it.

A bitter sweet moment for me today.
My ex mother-in-law, Charlotte, (fondly my 2nd mother) passed away in her 94th year. She will be sadly missed by all.
On November 19th my newest great-grandchild (Ethan) was born 7 weeks early. He remains in the high-dependancy unit in Stoke, England. He is gaining weight and progressing well. I shall be travelling to the UK within the next day or so where I'll be able to welcome Ethan and say goodbye to Charlotte.

This old wheel was propped up outside the San Buenaventura Mission in CA and I really liked the way the cactii had grown around it. One of the original momentoes that dot the grounds of this fine Mission.
Many thanks to all you guys and gals for taking time to see what I find beautiful in this wonderful world of ours. My photostream has reached 235,000.

It was a windy day in Santa Barbara CA when I saw these birds on the beach. About 30 of them were stood facing into the wind (see below) with their eyes shut. I did see a few of them fly past me a little later but they reminded me of the military the way they had lined up.
