I am kind of disturbed about the amount of people who enjoy this and am forced to doubt their religious knowledge. If Jesus is your savior (meaning the one who leads you to eternal life) then he is inherently included in the religion

It's so encouraging to see so many people with the same love for Jesus and wisdom to know that the relationship is not a religion. In a world full of doubters and naysayers, I found this so encouraging. Thank you! [ashes2ashesdust2dust.tumblr.com]

Christianity is a religion and Jesus is your savior.
One of the definitions of religion is the worship and service of God. Do you not do this?
If not, then your statement contradicts itself.

I think what she is pointing to is religionism or religiousness - which is an excessive religious zeal or blind religious practices which was present in Jesus' day but was not helping to open people's eyes to the truth of Jesus or turn their hearts towards Him. A lot of it still exist today in the same form and in the form of religious practices which gives the notion that if we do this and that, or don't do this or that, we will be saved or get a reward - basic Phariseeism or saved by the law practices. If this could save us, Jesus would not have come to die for us.

So like her, others are moving away from the word, religion, not the true meaning of religion (the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, esp. a personal God or gods), and is moving towards relationship which is what Jesus desire from us, good relationship with Him and with our neighbor. Religionism usually pulls us away from relationship and into selfish behaviors - a good example is the story of the good Samaritan in Luke 10:24-40 where, it was the priest (someone who should have known better, because he supposedly was in "Good practice with God" or "religious".) that passed the beaten down man, he passed him on the other side of the road. This is someone who religiously studied the law of God, In the same story a Samaritan came by, this is someone who in those days was despised and looked down on - basic racism, because of their non-religious ways or affiliation. However it was he who help the man in need and in the end of the parable, Jesus told the lawyer that asked, "what shall I do to inherit eternal life?", to "Go and do likewise."

We cannot say we love God and hate our neighbor, because to hate our neighbor is like committing murder. And how can we say we love God who we have not seen, but hate our neighbor who we can see.

Jesus' desire is for us to be in good relation with Him in Spirit and in truth and to love each other. He is the Son of God who came to die for our sin on the cross at calvary.

Jesus is the only wise God.

Another person who chooses to avoid the dictionary in place of a used car sales type slogan.

If you believe in God, you have a religion. It's what the word means. All the fancy sound bites and cheap slogans in the world aren't going to change that. Besides which, it's only recently that Christians have resisted being a "religion". Up until recently Christians were perfectly happy to be a religion. I guess being confronted with a lot of other religions in a modern post Christian monopoly society has made them feel less special. Thus the "It's not a religion it's a relaaaaaaaaaaationship" gimmick.
