There's a lot going on in this heavily restored never printed negative! The reflection of 44008 in the windscreen of 24133 for one, and who is that 'bellower' hanging out of the first coach? Elder statesman and bastion of Rail Tours for around 35 years, Peter Watts, playing to the camera! Sorry you had to wait so long to see this, Pete!
Taken between Crewe and Chester on the Class 44 Farewell tour, 24133 had been added for a few miles just to provide some steam heat to the train, after Chester it was back to normal.....

Still wearing a Guards jacket! Pretty sure he'd risen to the footplate grades by here, I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm wrong!
This was a curious little trip we did after work. We knew this was working through Crewe so we went straight there after work to see it and take some pics! We ended up talking to the train crew and blagged a ride in the back cab to Chester! At Chester they detached 24133 from behind the 44 and we blagged a ride back to Crewe with that!

10 months before I joined the railways. A 'saver seven' weekly ticket in my pocket gave me unlimited travel between Stockport and Manchester and pictures like this! (Which I never bothered to print - we're all seeing this for the first time!)

Mr Heyl and myself were on an adex to Whitley Bay from Manchester with 40117, where we abandoned the seaside for the pleasures of being thrown off Gateshead shed! Still, we got a few photographs out of the day, and what a glorious sunny day it was!
