Performancekunstenaar Mette Sterre creëert karakters door middel van draagbare sculpturen. Ze laat zich boeien door horrorfilms, mysteries en ritme in chaos. In de loop der jaren doet ze haar best om haar freakshow-stal uit te breiden. Ze heeft speciaal voor Blikopener Festival een nieuw personage uitgenodigd, Hummelman - een primeur
Artist Statement:
My work is socially engaged; picturing the society we try to live in
from an ironic perspective.
Connecting to the experience of culture today, I involve the viewer in
situations or environments which suggest the possibility of an action.
These installations are brought to life through performance.
I offer alternatives to existing situations, constructively
criticising.
Yet, it's about small things, sentimental and inter-human aspects each
offering some resistance to MTV and Hollywood utopia's.
Being part of and guilty of the system it's also self critique.
