Muyil is a truly awesome place to go birding in the Tulum area. I woke up way before the sun emerged and parked my car at the entrance of a dense jungle. A boarded path leads to an oberservation tower, approximately 3 stories tall, which was challenging to climb in the darkness. Once up in the tower, it was only a matter of waiting for the first light to emerge. Once the sun pops out, it's too late and all of the birds take shelter under the canopy.
