Sunset Lenticularity

The area between Kluane Lake and Haines Junction, Yukon, skirting the great cordillera of the Wrangell / St. Elias Mtn. range, is commonly productive of these stacked lenticular clouds ... In late summer, as the sun begins to set around 11 PM, it's beautiful to see these unique clouds, which are higher in altitude than their surrounding companions, catching the last peach colored rays of the sun.

Outstanding David --- reminds me of a shot of lenticular cloud over Denali, but this is better. The color and shadow looks out of this world, could imagine it on Saturn!

      beautiful shot David.
this must surely be a possible explanation for some UFO sightings?

Spectacular David! The layers in the cloud are something else. I love that area of the world, but haven't seen this phenomenon in my all-too-brief visit. This is one of the most interesting lenticular clouds I've ever seen! How about just cropping out those branches and wire at the bottom?

What an incredible cloud formation. I've read about them, but never seen them. I can really appreciate the name now.

That is one amazing looking clouds. It must have had a glowing spaceship hidden inside it!

A beautiful mountain or a reflecting lake in the foreground would have made this picture a masterpiece.

The clouds themselves are works of art on their own. But this moment where the light caught the layers of the one cloud only is incredible. Reading your comments reminds me that nature is creating beautiful moments all the time somewhere in the world and it sure is wonderful that sometimes a skillfully used camera is there to capture some of those moments.
