I am not too suprised. Just look at the size of those wings! I'll bet the pilot could read a novel in the time it takes to refuel that thing! I guess that's one of the reasons why they came out with the C17. Although it is not nearly as big as the C5, the C17's better fuel economy and shorter runway requirements probably allow the C5 to be used on just the really big jobs. If I remember correctly, because of it's heavy landing gear, you can even land a C17 on an unpaved runway. I don't think you would want to attempt that in a C5!
