What's for dinner?

The Brown Bear (Ursus arctos) is found throughout the northern hemisphere and can weigh up to 1500 lbs in the wild, more than 2000 in zoos. This ties it with the polar bear for the largest living land carnivore.
The grizzly bear and the mexican brown bear are subspecies of the the brown bear.

This particular brown bear was lazily awaiting his dinner while the zookeeper was cleaning the spectacled bear cage next door. I think that was all that kept him from being catatonic (asleep). Boy, was it hard to get a shot that showed that bears REALLY do have eyes.....

Oh what a beauty! I agree getting images of bear eyes are tough.

But this reminds me of one trip to the Baltimore Zoo eons ago....walked up to the Kodiak bear enclosure...

and there was the male sprawled out belly-down on a log sound asleep. He was snoring and his lips were flapping!!! rotfl.

Actually PP, I'd give my eye teeth to see and get a fantastic shot of a black bear in the wild (while being safe) :)

Tell me this was taken in a zoo and not that you were actually close to this bear in the wild or I can tell you what's for dinner! Great shot, you have a talent for setting up your shots beautifully!

Great photo! Bears do not have to use their "small eyes", coz they use their nose:-) This one looks amazing! Good luck!

Wow, beautiful. Indeed, it's hard to get their eyes since they use their nose much more.
