Greyhound Tattoo

    Newer Older

My first tattoo! I can't believe I actually did it. I've wanted to do this for years and I finally pulled the trigger yesterday. :D

Ever since I learned about it, I've had a mild obsession with the greyhound's double suspension gallop. Twice in one stride they are completely suspended in air. I took a photo of Dazzle in a front flight phase (left) and Echo in a rear flight phase (right) and used them for the basis of the tattoo.

I was rather picky about the design, and the artist was very patient with me. She used dark brown ink. It hurt, but it wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be. We were done in about half an hour.

Echo died back in January. It feels like I have her back again. :)

      Thank you both :)
I wanted to incorporate their ear tattoo numbers in it somehow, but I think "less is more" applies to this one.

I was looking at your gait article - and it's interesting - my Abby who raced for about 10 months, had broken her back leg before coming to us (I'm assuming that's what ended her career) - when she runs, she does not do number 5 and 6 in the pictures - both back legs stay closer together - she doesn't put too much weight on that one leg. However, I recognize that gait when my other grey runs - but he's has had no injuries. Thank you for posting that -
