Burnt Orange Explosion
Nikki and I went to the UT/A&M game and watched the Aggies getting a 49-9 thrashing. I took the D90 this time but didn't risk trying to get a long tele through the gate so only had a maximum of 105mm to play with (the tickets prohibit "professional, detachable long lens cameras").
After taking a few really dull shots of plays where the action was too small to be interested, I started playing with some abstracts and rather liked this image. This effect was created in camera by zooming during a long exposure.

Funny... I was playing around with that exact same thing the other day. I was taking a picture of Jana while she was wearing a white shirt. I was using a flash with low ambient (incandescent) light. After zooming in, her shirt would have a nice warm halo.
I like the shot and how the isles in the bleachers converge on the huddle the same way the zoom streaks do. Very nice!

I'vn't done this before! Interesting and now I'm gonna give it a schott! Thanks. Looks like you timed it so that you spent most of the shutter time on the guy in the field, then quickly zoomed out after you got the guy on the field and green grass "burned-in" pretty well. Creative.
