Hamilton Pool, Aug 2007

The photos used to build this composite were taken in early August on a day when the pool was open for swimming (as you can see). This time I used an ultra wide lens (Sigma 10-20mm at the wide end) to show the whole curve of the overhang roof. In case anyone is interested, there are 7 stops difference between the two ends of the bracketing used to gather the individual frames for this image.

Take a look in my Austin area set for other pictures of Hamilton Pool taken back in 2005.

Buy prints of this image on ImageKind.

You can find the before and after version of this shot here and the final exhibition version here.

This image featured in Flickr Explore for August 25th, 2007.

I would greatly appreciate your vote in the 2012 Photoblog Awards. Thanks!

Thanks, guys. I've just replaced the image with one where I reckon the bottom left corner is a bit better (darker but more in keeping with the rest of the image).

      David,

      This is the bees knees.
You're right, its hard to get good photos of Hamilton Pool without hdr or compositing, because there are so many textures and interesting forms that just can't be captured in one shot by the camera - and I find those that try usually boring.

This is an awesome shot with an awesome perspective.
