indeed - both the inevitability of a tag and the beauty of the blooming. =)

This is probably a long shot -- but what if you left flower seeds, empty pots (with soil) and instructions? And invite them to "tag" by planting a flower?

oh, ivan, i think it's a wonderful idea.

unfortunately, however, so much of what we have put out there has BEEN STOLEN. we've had three plants (and the pots they live in) stolen so far. so i fear that if we put seeds and empty pots outside, they too will get stolen.

but what an interesting and beautiful idea: planting a flower as tagging. i love it.

Set up a webcam and post the images of the people who steal your stuff.

nah, if someone needs to take one of our plants, it means they need it more than us.

we need less, not more, surveillance.

No-one _needs_ a planter.. taking it is just being mean, selfish and unneighbourly.. and I'd shame them with Flickr exposure ;-)

i agree with you, GrantMeStrength, that taking plants and planters is mean, selfish, and unneighbourly. plus, it's rude to the plants!

but i do think people need plants. not planters, plants.

maybe our neighbors think of the cement garden as a library - a place where you go to borrow materials. =)
