Tomorrow marks the 60th anniversary of the 228 Incident which was the beginning of a brutal crackdown by the ROC forces against the Taiwanese people.

it's really sad how when interviewed by bbc journalists about the meaning of 228 in a rare coverage on taiwan this year, jovial young people at cks memorial (how ironic...) stated the past had no significance to them and they didn't know why older taiwanese make such a fuss about the massacre. on the other hand, young taiwanese seem to know more about the jewish holocaust then the tragedy closer at home, so perhaps history still means something to them.
