228
Tomorrow marks the 60th anniversary of the 228 Incident which was the beginning of a brutal crackdown by the ROC forces against the Taiwanese people.
I have written some more about it on my blog. CommentsHongkiu says:it's really sad how when interviewed by bbc
journalists about the meaning of 228 in a
rare coverage on taiwan this year, jovial
young people at cks memorial (how ironic...)
stated the past had no significance to them
and they didn't know why older taiwanese make
such a fuss about the massacre. on the other
hand, young taiwanese seem to know more about
the jewish holocaust then the tragedy closer
at home, so perhaps history still means
something to them.
