Life on the prairie by David Kingham

Life on the prairie

Best Viewed Large On Black

Tom and I headed out east last night with no expectations to get anything worthwhile. We were extremely surprised to get an incredible sunset and happen to come across this old homestead right as the sky turned perfect. This is one of many from last night, more to come from later in the night....

This is 9 images bracketed 1 stop apart, blended in enfuse. I corrected the converging verticals in PTLens.

Morning Frost by David Kingham

Morning Frost

Halloween morning with FortPhoto, there was a bit of frost left on these leaves as the sun came up, I bracketed 5 shots 1ev apart and merged them in enfuse which really brought out the detail in the leaves while keeping the color of the background. There is a tiny bit of halo around the leaves that I don't like, some photoshopping could take care of it but it's running slow and I'm feeling lazy...so here you go :)

Lookout Lake by David Kingham

Lookout Lake

Finally got around to editing these from a month ago, Jenn and I attempted to go up here this weekend but the road was already closed for the winter and it was snowing fairly good so we walked away with no images, oh well it was nice drive.

This is 3 exposures blended with enfuse

The Cruncher by David Kingham

The Cruncher

Jenn and I drove all the way up to Joe Wright Reservoir only to find that I had lost my shutter release cable on our last trip. Jenn was kind enough to sacrifice her's for this shot (she's a sweetheart), so this shot is just as much her's as it is mine. Seriously Jenn, thank you. We waited 90 minutes in the cold under the stars, it was well worth it.

This is a single exposure with no noise reduction on in camera, I made some minor tweaks to brighten the stars in photoshop with luminosity masks. Final noise reduction was done with Nik Dfine, although there was very little noise considering the length of the exposure. 30 degree temperatures probably helped keep the sensor cool :)

Beaver Lake by David Kingham

Beaver Lake

If I remember correctly this was Beaver Lake between Granite and Crystal, sorry Jenn I have no back story or amazing facts for this, just a pretty picture.

3 shots enfused, then I played around with split toning the highlights with a blue filter in lightroom, after that I brought out a bit more detail in the shadows with luminosity masks in photoshop. Yes it's far from straight out of the camera haha
