Red Rock Canyon State Park at Sunrise
A section of Red Rock Canyon State Park at sunrise. This is a spectacular state park with many intricate and colorful lava and sandstone formations. Normally, this area can get quite hot in late May but there was an unseasonable cold front that moved through California, so instead of suffering in the high White Mountains this weekend we went south and enjoyed comfortable 60 degree temps.

In other news, I'm really digging the D300. As anticipated, I'm getting a much higher success rate with people and action shots and for stills, it's low-light focusing ability blows my mind. I think it will do well on safari (feel free to pass along these sentiments if you want to) ;-)
