Frog in Monteverde

A 3W, AA-powered CREE LED flashlight is a godsend while traveling, whether lighting a frog at night or checking one's backpack for scorpions.

I love the industrial LED flashlights because they are darn-near indestructible, can paint a tree at 50 yards and are close enough to white to make a real light source for shooting. I keep an old white Fuji film can with mine to act as a sweet little bulb diffuser, too. Just build up your flashlight head with gaffer's tape for a friction fit and you are golden.

This guy was at the Frog Pond in Santa Elena (Monteverde).
